12/1/17 - Just like the Walther PP's and P38's, there were some end of war Sauer's put together in the factory by the GI's. I believe this is one of those guns as it has NO firing proofs or any markings at all with the exception of serial numbers. The 510xxx serial number dates it to 1945 and the top half is not matching to the bottom. The barrel and slide match each other but the frame is not matching. Since there are no firing proofs I would assume it never left the factory before the factory was captured. It has a correct "half moon" late war magazine and the grips are original as well. Right grip has a hairline crack in it and also an unusual wear spot. Excellent bore and every thing seems to function well on the gun, including the decocker. No safety on this late variation. Original finish is also very nice, with thin straps.
