12/31/20 - This is a very interesting Walther P.38. The parts are mismatched and we believe it was likely put together by a GI when the Walther factory was liberated in 1945. First of all, all of the parts are mismatched. It has a 1945 Walther Mod HP frame with a test eagle proof on the trigger guard, a 1942 slide with only two test proofs, and most of the small parts are not marked - some have Walther proofs. All of these factors point to a put-together gun. It is in minty condition, retaining about 97-98% of its bluing. There is just a hint of thinning on the front strap and a hint of wear on some of the high edges. There is minor spotty oxidation on the front strap and one small area on the right side of the slide. It comes with excellent grips and an end-of-war "U"-marked magazine. De-cocker is functional. The bore is stone-mint.
