SOLD - Early S Code Krieghoff Luger - 1936
6/26/18 - This is an early 1936 manufactured Krieghoff luger, considered a "mid-S" variation. There were only 1,700 of this variation produced, as referenced on pages 158-159 of Gibson's book. This contract was issued to the Luftwaffe in 1936, with many going to the paratroopers and pilots, making these a desirable collectors luger. This pistol has fine, checkered Ritz grips and about 95% original blue with most finish loss on the back strap. Small parts show excellent original straw. Characteristic Krieghoff 'thumb print' is visible on the back of the frame, and the ears have a proper matte finish. All numbered parts are matching, including the magazine, but the magazine numbering appears unlikely to be factory original. The pistol was priced accordingly.
