9/12/17 - This is a very early example of the Colt AR15 SP1, made in 1967. The gun is in excellent original condition and shows little or no evidence of being fired and just a few small handling marks. It has all the early features of the 1st generation SP1, such as solid buttplate, 1 in 12 twist barrel, three-prong flash suppressor, stamped front sight base, no forward assist, slick-side bolt carrier group with no serrations for forward assist and an early Edgewater buffer. The gun was made during the Vietnam War era and is identical to the M16 of that era, except for having the semi-auto function only and no full-auto capability. Very few of these early configuration guns were made between 1964 and 1969 and they became very collectible and sought after by collectors. Finding one in top condition like this one is very difficult. It would make a great addition to any military collection. C&R eligible.
