2/3/21 - This is an excellent Colt AR-15 Model SP-1 chambered in .223 and manufactured in 1976. The interesting thing about this particular gun is that it was issued to a prison guard at the Angola State Penitentiary in Louisiana. It comes with a certification letter from the State of Louisiana. Angola, known as the "Alcatraz of the South", is the largest maximum-security prison in the United States with 6,300 prisoners and 1,800 staff, including corrections officers, janitors, maintenance, and wardens. Due to these large numbers, it has been given the nickname "a gated community." This one has a rack number hand-etched into the lower that matches the rack number on the inside of the butt plate. It is in excellent condition - just some light handling marks and scuffs here and there. The bore is near-mint. It comes with an original sling and bayonet. Just a really cool conversation piece.
