1/15/20 - This is a beautiful Springfield M1 Garand with a rich and interesting history. This rifle comes with the original box, shipping document/invoice, and registration, all of which denote that the gun was shipped from the Anniston Army Depot to Lieutenant General Robert H. Forman. The serial dates the gun to 1945, so it was likely made for use during World War II and later sent back to the army depot and re-worked. The rifle itself shows minimal wear to the parkerized finish on the metal, and the stock is in fantastic shape with just just speckling of oil or some other liquid on the right side. Minty bore with a muzzle reading of about 1.5, and throat reading of less than 1. The box includes the original army field manual and the original sling, still in its wrapping. Over the course of his long career, General Forman served as a commander, military instructor, staff officer and trainer who fought in the Korean War and served two tours in Vietnam.
