11/9/17 - This is a WW2 production K98 sniper rifle. The 98K was the primary service rifle as used by all Nazi forces throughout the war. This is a late-WWII production style manufactured by the Steyr factory, that has the desirable "single" lightning bolt/rune on the receiver below the "bnz" maker code. This designates issue to the most feared of all Nazi forces, the SS. The top of the receiver is marked "bnz/single rune/ 43", the wartime code for Steyr-Daimler and the year of manufacture. The right side of the receiver ring has the single "Eagle/77" waffenamt proof with a single "Eagle" firing proof on the left side of the receiver and barrel. It is fitted with the mid-war stamped components, barrel bands, trigger guard and floor plate. The magazine base plate is not matching to the rest of the gun. However, the floor plate is stamped with a single rune as well, matching the reciever. The rifle is fitted with the standard laminated stock and handguard that has a single "Eagle/WaA18" stock proof in the lower toe area with no other proofmarks. The stock is fitted with a cupped sheet metal buttplate. Complete with a cleaning rod and sheet metal front sight cover. The metal on this rifle is lacking finish overall, with a remaining very light bluing in some areas, and mostly depleted finish in other areas. The ZF scope has surface patina throughout as well, as shown in photos. The bore is excellent though, with minor patina but strong rifling throughout. No internal residue or rust. Guaranteed original.
