12/28/17 - This is an early, extremely scarce Utica Cutlery blade dated M3 fighting knife from WW2. Only the first batch of production out of Utica were blade dated and marked like this blade. The blade is stamped "U.S. M3 - U.C. 1943". The blade is blued but worn with notable wear on both sides. This discoloration is normal from use and aging. There are no signs of sharpening though which is a huge plus. Most of the surface wear is discoloration and patina. The handle is similarly worn, with some loose strands of leather, but these are only loose in the sense that they have some "play" when moved/adjusted. The handle is completely in tact. The butt of the handle is properly ordnance stamped. The leather scabbard is 1943 dated with an ordnance flaming bomb stamp as well. The scabbard is made by Milsco. The scabbard condition is similar to that of the blade. The leather is all in tact but shows some honest wear and use. The back of the scabbard has some "chewing" or a tattered look. The stitching is all original and in tact. This is a rare, early fighting knife with some cool use wear! Guaranteed original.
