7/17/19 - This is a very nice example of an original Arisaka Type 38 rifle, made at the Kokura Arsenal in the late 1930s. This rifle has matching numbered parts (receiver and bolt) and the mum is still sharply intact! The receiver and barrel still show excellent blue, but there is some obvious finish loss on the trigger guard. The butt plate is thin, which is extremely common for rifles from that era, and there is minor wear near the muzzle and front barrel band. The receiver denotes this is a 22nd series rifle, and there is also a small Kanji proof on receiver and stock, though I am not sure the significance. The bore is shiny with strong rifling and only minor signs of frost. The stock has various dings, chips and signs of age, but no cracks and is structurally sound.
