6/6/18 - This is an impressive, large caliber British officer private purchase revolver, in Webley-Pryse pattern, made by the very old and respectable Belgian firm Francotte. It is a complete, as issued set that we got directly from the family of the original owner. The gun is robust in its construction and size and is beautifully finished with around 90% of its original blue remaining. It is top-break, very much like its Webley made counterparts. All matching, with excellent bore and grips, sharp markings and a maker mark engraved on top of the barrel. Various Belgian proofmarks are present throughout. It comes with an original British military pattern holster, belt and the leather shoulder strap. We believe that the gun was made in late 1890s, and was probably purchased in time for the Boer War. Unfortunately, very little information is available on these very scarce revolvers. Further research is sure to reveal more interesting information about this unusual firearm.
