3/18/17 - This is an original WW1 production, rare variation trench knife. The knife is maker marked by American Cutlery, and comes with an original scabbard. The American Cutlery knives are more scarce than the other WW1 trench knives, and they have a different style knuckle guard. Instead of having pyramid shapes comes out, this blade has protrusions on both edges of the knuckle guard. This metal area is blued, and usually significantly worn on these blades. However, this blade is in great shape by comparison. Most of the bluing is in tact. The interior of the guard is maker stamped and dated 1917. The blade is in excellent condition with no rust or pitting. The scabbard is also in great shape. There is a minor surface scuff mark on one side though. This piece is 100% original and authentic. The scabbard is 1918 dated and maker stamped JEWEL.
