6/5/18 - This is an early pre WW1 production Colt model 1911. The pistol has an early slide with patent date 1911. In 1914 Colt switched to patent date 1913 on the slides. The serial number dates this Colt in early 1914 production, right before the slide patent date switched (very desirable). All parts are correct and original. The rear sight is rectangular which is correct as Colt transitioned from half-moon style around serial 62,000. Correct barrel with a nice bore. The bore has some normal signs of use and light corrosion, but the rifling is strong and fairly clean given the item's age. The inspector proof stamp is a rare WGP proof on the frame. The magazine is also correct; early lanyard loop and two-toned. The left grip panel does have a very minor chip in the bottom left corner. Overall the pistol is worn with a lot of bluing missing but there's no rust, pitting, or blemishes to make this an unfavorable gun. A genuine piece guaranteed all original and fully functional. Comes with an original Colt factory letter!
