8/20/20 - This is an original, WW2, Mauser P.38 issued to the Nazi military in 1943. The slide has the "byf 43" Mauser factory code. It is all matching and has the proper "Eagle 135" Nazi military acceptance proofs. The nature of the finish makes this particular gun difficult to rate - while it doesn't appear to have very much actual finish loss, there are areas of discoloration and patina showing under the finish throughout. Our best estimate of remaining bluing is somewhere between 85-90%. The discoloration is most noticeable on the right side of the slide. There is minor muzzle wear, wear along the top of the barrel (in ejection port), and a few light handling marks on the right side of the barrel. There is thinning on the front strap and underside of tang. The gun is fully functional, including de-cocker. Comes with excellent, original grips and a proper wartime Mauser magazine. The bore has decent rifling, but there is pitting in the grooves throughout.
