8/6/19 - This is a 1918 production WWI Springfield Model 1903 rifle. The rifle is all original and correct except for the stock, which appears to be an arsenal replacement. This is due to the paint on the right side of the stock (likely a rack number) as well as the rack number stamp on the top of the buttstock. The leather strap appears old and could likely be WWI era production, but we cannot find any date stamps or maker stamps. The strap has some light wear throughout but no major cracks or issues with the leather. The rifle has wear and patina throughout the metal. There is reddish brown patina throughout the receiver and barrel, as well as a few light spots of rust on the barrel bands. Most of the finish has a layer of patina mixed in with it, giving the rifle an overall aged look. The bore is surprisingly nice; shiny with good rifling and some minor wear / residue but 8/10 overall. Smooth action and fully functional.
