1/19/22 - This is an excellent example of an Arisaka Type 38 issued to the Japanese military during WW2. The gun is mostly matching, however, some of the parts are numbered "97". These parts include the bolt release, firing pin, and underside of the bolt handle. The top of the bolt handle has a matching number. This part may have been re-numbered to match, but we can't say for sure. The rear sight is mismatched. The Imperial mum stamp on the receiver has been ground. Overall, the gun is in excellent condition. There is very little actual finish loss. There are a few small spots of wear around the muzzle and on the front sight. Some very minor freckling on the barrel and floor plate. The stock is nice with small dings, dents, and bruises throughout. One more noticeable gouge on the right side of stock near the wrist. Mint bore.
