10/21/21 - This is an excellent example of a Spreewerk P.38 issued to the Nazi military in December of 1944. It is all matching and has the proper "Eagle 88" Nazi military acceptance proofs throughout. Comes with a typical late-war cog-style hammer. There is an "asterisk" marking on the right side of the slide, indicating it failed initial inspection and was sent back to the factory for repair. It has retained about 95% of its bluing. Most of the wear is on the front strap (where there is also some light brown patina), so the profile views are actually quite minty. There are just hints of wear at the very front edges of the slide and around the muzzle. A few very light scratches here and there on both sides of the slide. Comes with nice brown bakelite grips, but there is a chip adjacent to the slot on the left grip panel and the lanyard loop is missing. Also comes with a period-correct "ac"-marked Walther magazine. The bore is near mint - shiny with very strong rifling. The de-cocker does in fact de-cock the gun, but the hammer comes down with the safety is on its way back up - this is not the way it typically works.
