8/20/21 - This is a nice example of a Spreewerk P.38 issued to the Nazi police in September of 1944. It is all matching and has the proper "Eagle 88" military proofs. This one also has two "U" proofs on the left side of the slide. These proofs are typically found on later Zero Series guns and usually indicate that the gun was issued to the Volkssturm at the end of the war. It could be an indication that this particular gun was eventually issued to the Volkssturm troops. It comes with nice grips (some light scuffing at the base of the right grip) and a period-correct Walther magazine. It has retained about 80% of its original finish. Most of the wear is on the front strap, but there is also spotty wear on both sides of the slide (concentrated around the high edges), on the barrel, and around the muzzle. There are visible machining marks throughout. Areas of light spotty oxidation here and there, most noticeable on the front strap. Excellent bore with strong rifling. De-cocker is functional.
