8/3/21 - This is a nice example of a Steyr Model 1908/34 that is listed by serial number on page 247 of Jan Still's Axis Pistols. An excerpt that page: "In 1934, the Austrian Police had a number of 1908 Steyr pistols reworked for police issue. Some of these have 'S.W.' grip strap markings indicating issue to the Austrian State Security Service. After the 1938 Anschluss, Austria became part of Greater Germany and its police force was integrated into the Nazi National Police System". This one is all matching and has an "S.W. 4580" marking on the back strap. It comes with a matching unit-numbered magazine. It has retained roughly 70% of its finish. There is heavy pitting on the whole right side of the gun and on the left side of the barrel. Comes with nice bakelite grips. The bore is nice with good rifling.
