12/31/18 - This is an original early production Walther P.38 "480 Code". The 480 Code P.38 was the early military production of P.38 pistols. There were roughly 7200 made in 1940 according to Whittington's book. This pistol is all original and matching, except for the finish which is a post-war refinish. The pistol still shows some light pitting underneath the finish in a few areas - see photos. Slide, frame, barrel and locking block are all matching. Small parts are eagle/359 proofed. The magazine is not waffen proofed, but has machine markings and could potentially be WW2 era, we aren't sure - the side of the magazine is serial numbered. The bore has some patina and light wear throughout, but rifling is in tact. 7 out of 10 overall (for the bore). The right grip panel is eagle/359 proof stamped, but the left is not. Guaranteed original and fully functional (except the finish).
