8/3/18 - This is an original 1917 Erfurt Kar98 rifle. The rifle is all original and matching, including the stock. The receiver has significant bluing loss and some brown speckling throughout the receiver and bolt assembly, but this is expected for a rifle over 100 years old. There is not any active rust or mechanical issues as the action is smooth. There's more finish in tact towards the barrel bands and barrel, which are all matching serial numbered, ending in "47". The screws are all properly imperial proof stamped, as is the floorplate which is also matching. The buttplate is unmarked, but correct for this rifle. There's some browning - as shown in photos. The wood stock is excellent, and unaltered with proper imperial proofs on the underside as well as the left side near the butt end. The underside of the stock is also matching serial numbered. The bore has deep rifling and is in great shape, but there is some residue - especially inside the grooves (as is expected on an old piece like this). Overall a great collectible WW1 German rifle!
