7/12/18 - This is a truly special piece of American history. We have a USMC issued Springfield model 1903 Rifle. This rifle has seen actioin from both World Wars! Originally produced in 1917, then re-arsenalled for use by the Marines during WW2. The Springfield receiver shows correct dark parkerization (the finish is supposed to look this way). There is some normal thinning in some action-areas but overall the receiver and bolt assembly are excellent. The stock is VERY faintly arsenal stamped "A.H.A." on the left side just above the trigger. The stock is also serial numbered on the top of the wood near the butt-end of the stock. The number appears to be 27244, but it's hard to decipher. The stock is also properly "P" proofed. The only flaw on the wood is the upper forward handguard has a hairline crack in the wood that runs about 5 inches long. The barrel is November 1943 dated and made by Sedgely with a "USMC" stamp. The barrel shows some use wear as well as patina throughout. The bore is very clean with little to no signs of residue. The rifle has a smooth action and comes with an original 1943 dated leather (and USMC correct) sling. All original and correct guaranteed.
