5/24/18 - This is an original WW1 production Springfield Model 1903. Comes with the original CMP certificate when this was purchased by a collector back in 2007. Also has the original green plastic sleeve CMP shipped with this rifle. To say the least, I'm sure this rifle has seen a lot. The receiver serial number dates back to 1911 when this rifle was made for use in WW1. In 1918 at the end of the war, the rifle was taken back to the Springfield arsenal and given a new barrel. The barrel is marked AV (a contracted barrel maker for Springfield) and 1918 dated. The bore is excellent, rating at an 8.5 out of 10 but with strong rifling throughout. There is some minor residue that would most likely clean out easily. The wood stock is "RA-P" proofed which is from the Ratan Arsenal - most likely in the 1920s or 1930s. The metal is both blued and parkerized, overall in excellent condition. The stock is similarly excellent. Guaranteed original and fully functional.
