7/6/18 - This is an original etched/engraved German rifle bayonet. The blade is 7.5 inches long and in excellent, near mint condition. The blade is engraved with an inscription on each side. The inscription roughly translates to "In memory of my time in service" on one side. The Gothic German looks like "Zur Erinnerung an meine Dienstzeit..." . The reverse side is engraved for the infantry regiment number 119 out of Stuttgart. Made by Eickhorn. A very cool piece of history. The other engraved blades like this that we've owned are only engraved on one side, so this is pretty special. The regiment number 119 must have done something special or could afford to have this extra engraving. Guaranteed original. There's some light surface wear, but this is normal scabbard and use wear. No signs of "field use" or sharpening. The handle is excellent as in the scabbard. The leather frog has some surface cracking and wrinkling.
