6/28/18 - This is a rare WW2 Panzer Grenadier tunic from the nazi Africa Corps. The tunic is in outstanding condition, and the earlier 5-button variation. Specific to the Afrika Corps: The breast eagle is partially overlapping the pocket, the stitching has a zig-zag pattern under the collar, inside the tunic under the 2nd button from the top is a faint ink stamp with size and maker information (hard to decipher). The shoulder board pipping is grass green which indicates Panzer Grenadier (armored infantry). The rank is for "Obergefreiter" meaning senior lance-corporal, or someone with authority over a small squad or given to those who have shown significant acheivement on the battlefield. Included is a copy from a listing by Rock Island Auction where a much lesser quality Afrika Corps. tunic sold for $7273.75 after commission.
