5/12/21 - This is an original foot artillery short sword model 1832 from the Civil War. The sword is maker stamped "N.P. Ames" on one side and is dated 1844 on the other. The hand guard is marked on each side as well, with "W.A.T." on one side and "JH" on the other. The blade shows no signs of sharpening and is in great condition considering its' age. There some mild surface patina throughout, as shown. The blade measures 19 inches long. The handle has mild patina but no excessive wear. Original scabbard is in great condition with some mild surface cracking on the leather portion.
