3/28/23 - This is an original 1st model Pith helmet from WW2. These helmets were used by the DAK (Deutsche Afrika Korps.) and the 1st model helmets are more scarce than the 2nd model Pith helmets. The 1st model has a cloth exterior and a molded cork brim. This example is in great overall condition with very nice exterior cloth that has a light tan color and minima surface wear. The two exterior decals have some surface wear and patina but are in very good overall condition. The stitching is all tight and original. The interior is fairly clean and shows mild aging. The leather lined brim has some mild scuffing but is in great condition, as is the original leather chinstrap. The interior of the leather liner is 1941 dated and ink stamped by the maker. Size 57.
