8/31/17 - The Simson luger is one of the rarest lugers to find.   There were fewer Simsons made than Krieghoffs.    They were made in the 1920's but because the family was Jewish the factory was confiscated and closed by the Nazis.   It was later reopened as a Krieghoff Luger manufacturing factory.  Less than 12k ever made.   This Simson appears to be a restoration, however done in such a way that it is hard to tell.   The finish is about 98-99% and there are interior wear areas that indicate it was done a while ago.   It also appears to have a Russian X just by the serial on the frame.  The gun comes in 9mm and was military issued.   Dated 1925.  All numbered parts are matching and most are also Simson proofed.  The grips are also Simson proofed but not matching.  Matching parts include the firing pin, hold open, trigger and levers. Rear toggle pin is not numbered.   The gun comes with 2 magazines.   One is Simson proofed (twice) but number 91.   The other is numbered to the gun but the proof is dinged a bit.   I believe it is ONE Simson proof mark however.  My best guess is that it is Eagle 3 marked?   Most likely a re-work proof.  Bore has strong rifling but some freckling throughout.  Original Simsons sell in the 5k range.
