3/1/19 - This is a “shorty” Russian Nagant revolver, issued to NKVD commanding personnel during the days of Stalin’s terror in 1930s, and the first one we've ever had available for sale. These guns were not cut-downs of the regular M1895 revolvers, but made from scratch at the Tula factory with a shorter barrel, a shortened grip frame, a different geometry of the trigger guard and a different hammer profile. This gun has all of the above attributes and is all original and matching, retaining about 50-60% of its original bluing, with obvious wear and small areas of old corrosion as per pictures. It is dated 1929. Very few of these are found outside Russia and only a handful is known to exist in US. This particular example is all original and correct and was authenticated in the past by late Joe Leiper, the authority on Russian Nagants. This is the “holy grail” of Russian Nagant collecting and we probably would not see another one for sale for another 20 years.
