1/10/19 - This is a very rare example of a desirable "Jager" semi-automatic pistol as produced in the 1914-1917 time frame. The unique aspect of this pistol is that the sides of the frame are actually an early form of sheet metal stamping that the rest of the parts were assembled to. The trigger guard/underside of the frame hinges at the lower front and swings downward to exposed the internal components, with some of the remaining parts being stampings combined with standard machined parts. It was estimated that approximately 12,000 were manufactured at Jager and Company, with only a handful actually being accepted by the Imperial German Army at this time. With the Imperial marked Jagers, interspersed with commercial Jagers in the 5,167 to 9,268 serial range. This example is stamped with the Imperial crown on the left side frame. This example has checkered, black plastic grips and is complete with a 1917 dated holster that could be original to the gun (not certain), and one spare unmarked but original magazine. The holster is also marked 'DSKAR SCHEYKING CASSEL". The pistol itself was professionally reblued at some point and is in very good shape, though there are a couple spots of minor pitting under the finish. The bore is shiny with good rifling, but does have some frosting throughout.
