7/10/24 - This is a very rare FN Browning Model 1903 that was part of a limited Ottoman Empire contract order, one of ~8,000 produced. From Vanderlinden's book on FN pistols, all contract guns are marked on the top of the slide with the crest of Sultan Abdul Hamid II, and the slide engraved with the word "Authority" in Turkish and the gun's issue number. It is also marked with the star and crescent on the back of the frame. These pistols were widely issued through the empire by police or gendarmerie. This particular example was likely issued in 1914 based off the serial number. It's in terrific condition with minor wear around the muzzle and high edge of the slide, and a little more on the front strap. Nice bore with minor freckling in the grooves. Excellent grips with no defects.
