8/9/19 - This is a rarely encountered prewar Sauer 38h model, probably made in the first year of production. Serialization started at 260,000 and the first 5,000 or so guns were made without the thumb safety as the gun was equipped with a de-cocker. These early guns were finished in high polished blue and were proofed with a Crown/N on the right side of the tang before a change over to Eagle/N occurred around 269xxx serial number. This gun is all matching and retains around 92% of its original blue with some holster wear and a few spots of oxidation here and there. There are also a few small surface scratches on the left side of the slide. Near-perfect original grips. Excellent bore. This a wonderful example of a scarce, early Sauer 38h.
