5/27/20 - This is a rare Modified 1902 Type Papa Nambu, produced by TGE (Tokyo Gas & Electric) for the Imperial Japanese Navy.  Naval production was only about 3,600 pistols, which were reportedly issued to the Special Naval Landing Forces and saw action in both WWI & WWII.  This specific pistol has an early serial number, making it one of the first 500 produced by TGE.  It is Navy marked on the right side, and is a slotted (1st) variation Papa, but the stock slot has been filled - a common occurrence.  The original finish is excellent and covering most of the pistol, but there is some minor freckling on the left side rail and grip safety, as well as notable oxidation on the straps. This pistol has all matching parts including the grips and original magazine.  Excellent bore that is shiny with strong rifling but a bit of freckling in the grooves.  It comes with a rare, original holster. The holster does show some obvious wear on the closure strap, belt loop and rear corners, and the hinge leather was replaced. A Type 14 cleaning rod is present in the holster, too.
