10/11/18 - This is a fine example of a WWII German MG-34 medium machine gun as used throughout WWII by all German forces. These were developed prior to WWII by the Rheinmetall company and were an excellent and very reliable machine gun. They were manufactured with all machined parts that were, in many cases, hand fitted with exacting tolerances, that proved to be too time consuming and costly to produce so they were eventually replaced with the easier to manufacture, stamped and machined MG-42. This example was manufactured in 1943 by the BRNO factory in Czechoslovakia with the top of the barrel jacket marked "dot/1943/8894a", with serial number "1453a" on the top cover, along with 'bpi' maker mark. The stock is waffen marked and matching numbered to the receiver. The machine gun has an original, Nazi marked bipod. The original finish rates at about 70-80% with no major areas of finish loss, but dullness/browning of the finish in various areas. Although this weapon has mismatched numbers, this is fairly common in these early use weapons as many of the guns parts were cannibalized for use on other weapons during heavy use with many parts also discarded before the gun was captured later in the war. All WW2 original parts. The bore is mostly shiny with very strong rifling, showing signs of minor frost. Comes with a spare barrel that has strong rifling but needs a thorough cleaning. No import mark. Fully transferrable on ATF form 4.
