10/31/17 - This is a somewhat unique FN 1922 pistol.   Serial number dates it to 1942 so it has the appropriate Eagle/140 proofs indicating that it was issued to the Nazi Army.  In 1942, they transitioned to the more common wood grip panels.  This one has the earlier variation Bakelite (black) grip panels - most with the 140 proof will have the wood panel.   In addition, you can see that the serial numbers are all matching on the barrel, slide, frame and the end-piece.   If you notice the numbering on the slide is a slightly different font from the rest of the gun.  Also, the magazine is numbered and matching to the gun.  Normally, the military issued mags were not numbered.   So, in trying to solve this riddle I also noticed that on the trigger guard (under the MP) it looks like a marking was removed.   With the help of a 1922 FN "expert", we conclude that this gun was issued to the military but later diverted to the police.   The serial on the exterior of the slide and the magazine were done at the Police Arsenal (fairly common).  The slide is also FACTORY numbered on the interior showing that it is original to the gun and correct.  The removed marking was most likely a police proof.  Original high polish finish is about 95% with handling marks throughout and dulling of the finish due to oxidation.  Mint bore.
