11/27/17 - This is a rare, second variation Modified 1902 Type Nambu, also known as the "Papa" to collectors.  It was produced by TGE (Tokyo Gas & Electric) for the Imperial Japanese Navy.  Second variation Naval production was only about 1,800 pistols, which were reportedly issued to the Special Naval Landing Forces and saw action in both WWI & WWII.  This pistol is Navy marked on the right side, and is a second variation Papa, due to the fact it has no stock slot and the second type naval anchor.  The original finish rates at about 96-97%, with various areas of patina and surface pinpricking.  The freckling and minor pitting is common on these as the salt water caused corrosion. This pistol has all matching parts including the grips, but not the magazine.  Bore is shiny with strong rifling but does show some frost.
