12/15/17 - This is a fairly rare and unique Sauer 38h, as it has no test or firing proofs on the gun.  The serial makes it one that was made in the last month or so of the war (April, 1945).  The fact that it has no proofs indicates that it was in the factory, unissued, at the end and most likely picked up by the GI's or sent out the door in a rush without any kind of inspection.   The original finish is 99% with only minor muzzle wear.  Matching slide and frame.  7.65 caliber with excellent bore.   The grips and magazine are also late war correct. There is no safety and no de-cocker, both late war features.   One flaw in the design of these guns (and you will see it often if you handle a lot of them) is that when the grip screw are tightened all the way down, the magazine is hard to get in and out.  So we loosen the grips a bit and it works well but then the grips have a bit of wiggle in them.  Otherwise a very fine design, with easy take down and firing mechanism.  Works in both double and single action.
