2/7/24 - This is an original 1943 dated K98 bayonet with an original matching numbered scabbard. The bayonet is in good overall condition, with an average blade. The blade has about 50% of its original bluing. The base of the blade and scabbard are marked "7390t." The "0" on the blade is difficult to make out. Interestingly, the blade is maker marked and dated, "43ASW" but the scabbard is marked, "44ASW." There is honest wear and patina on the both sides of the hand guard and pommel. A nice original grip. The scabbard has consistent patina throughout. There are several dents on the scabbard mainly on the edges that cover the spine and edge of the blade as if someone used it as a hammer. The scabbard still fits the blade nicely. Both the tip of the scabbard, pommel, and release button are inspector marked "WaA519." Overall this is an average example.
