10/1/24 - This is a rare variation M40 Double Decal Combat Police Helmet from WW2. This example is in top-tier condition with excellent original exterior paint, crisp and clean exterior decals, and a minty interior leather liner. The exterior shell has light patina and spotty paint loss mostly around the rim and top crown. The decals are vibrant with the Nazi party shield rating around 80%, and the Police Eagle rating 95%+. Nice detail visible on each decal. The shell interior features an original liner band with a leather chin strap attached to each bale. The chin strap is broken at one end, but still in great overall condition. The back visor of the interior shell is stamped with a faint, "Q 64" (the Q is barely visible, yet original). Underneath the maker stamp is a batch/lot number "DN369" (the 9 is barely visible, but we've seen other examples with similar lot numbering and style). The leather liner is soft and pliable, yet in excellent overall condition and strong throughout. Ink stamped size "56" on the liner as shown. A scarce variation combat police helmet in hard-to-upgrade condition.
