10/4/22 - This is an excellent example of a rare presentation Walther PPK from 1939. It is all matching and has an inscription on the right side of the slide that reads "Pg. Zarske 1. Sieger 5. Kampf d. Pol. Leit. Gumb. d. 25.4.39.". This would have been presented to a man named Zarkse in the Gumbinnen region on April 25th, 1939. The rest of the inscription seems to indicate this pistol was presented to the first place winner of some sort of sporting event or contest. The well-known Wilhelm Zarske was the press chief for the Nazi Propaganda Ministry who had an office in the nearby city of Danzig at that time. Could this be the same Zarske? It's certainly possible, but we cannot say for sure and we'll likely never know the answer. In any case, the gun has retained about 98% of its high polish finish with very minor wear on some of the high edges and very light freckling on the front strap. Comes with an excellent brown Walther grip and a finger extension magazine. Minty bore.
