5/18/23 - This is a very rare 1st variation O Series P.38 which was clearly someone's "project". They only made about 1,000 of this first variation and this gun has a slide and frame that were part of gun number 0267. The barrel and locking block are from a later gun and the numbers were polished off from those parts. Also grips are from 1940 but not numbered and not waffen stamped. The magazine is a later war JVD marked mag. The first 1,000 guns are distinct has they had the hidden extractor and rectangular firing pin. These early parts are hard to find and quite desirable. An all correct and matching 1st variation P.38 sell in the $8k to 10k range, so this one is priced at a "parts" price. Again, it has had the grips, barrel, locking block and magazine added, and then the entire gun refinished. Comes in 9mm luger, and has minty bore. We would rate a 9 out of 10. Functions well including the de-cocker.
