9/13/17 - This is an early Austrian Steyr Pieper model 1908 pistol in all original configuration. The polished blue rates at about 96% with some browning on the straps and a little wear on the muzzle and trigger guard. The pistol is '10 dated, and production only started in 1909 but continued through until 1929. These pistols are an unusual blowback type with tip-down barrel. The barrel is retained with a pivoting bolt and is held by a thumb latch barrel-locking mechanism. Manufacture started in 1909 and was suspending in 1911, then resumed in 1919 and wrapped up in 1929. The thumb latch still shows a pretty fire blue. The grips are in very good condition with no cracks or chips. The magazine is correct and numbered on the bottom, but to another pistol. Bore is mint.
