VETERAN BRING-BACK WALTHER RZM PPK RIG

Hey guys let me tell you about a new feature that we're starting today and I have to tell you really quickly because that's where the title comes from. This is going to be called a quickie. The reason being is people tell us all the time, give us more, give us more. But the production to do all the research on a gun and do the production of a gun, it literally takes weeks. We actually have full time jobs and so we have to do this in our spare time. But there are times when something comes in the door that I don't have time to do a full production, so I'm just going to give you a quickie.

An Unusual Party Leader RZM

An Unusual Party Leader RZM

This came in the door, before I put it in the safe I just have to show it to you because it's so unusual. This is a party leader RZM. Now I did a whole video on party leaders, if you want to learn about party leader PPKs, go to that video. But this is an absolutely stunning RZM PPK which we know is issued to a party leader in 1934 or there about. Nothing special about the grip, just the RZM logo. Again go back and watch that video. It comes with an Akah holster, this one is in remarkable condition, Akah holster. You can see that it's marked Akah underneath the flap, you see the little Akah, that's just the maker. We know this is an early one because it has the brass button. Later they went to an aluminum button.

Can we find this Vet?

Can we find this Vet

Incredible rig, which somebody sold to me and I thought hey this is really great and inside, not unusual it has the name of the vet. You can tell the name of the vet is always crudely put in there and most times it'll have his GI number underneath. So we'll have the name and GI number. This one does not have the GI number so we were not able to find anything out about H.C. Brothers or Brothers. My dad who is 92 actually works part-time for Legacy Collectibles doing research on the GIs and he tries to find them for me. He did search, couldn't find anything on the GI. The power of the internet, maybe you or someone who you know may know the family, let me know. From time to time it's not uncommon for us to be able to track down the vet and that's very cool. And sometimes we even contact the families to see if they would have interest in getting the gun back.

There’s More!

There’s More

But this one has additional writing which the guy who sold it to me didn't really do any research on, but this is the name of the party leader who it was issued to, because you can see in Germanic writing the serial number of the gun. You see the serial number there and you see the serial number on the gun and they match. And I can tell from the writing that this was most likely not faked and his name is Karl Wiedenhoft. How was that? How's my German? Maybe a German friend can help me out - Wiedenhoft.

I wonder what Karl was Like?

So Karl…the fantasy I have about party leaders is all they were like they're strutting around town in their party leader uniform with their brocade belt on and this guy must have been a really cool dude. I'd love to find out a little bit more about him. But the reason I'm showing you the video is because in this case it's not true.

Only my Imagination, we were able to find Records on Karl

Only my Imagination, we were able to find Records on Karl

We actually found records on Karl and it turns out he was a school teacher. And the town, they have the town here, my German is not good I'm not even going to say the name of the town but the name of the town is there and it ends in Celle. It doesn't sound German, Celle. But that's the name of the town, small town; so he's a small town school teacher. We have records. This is his professional certificate as a teacher and this was issued in ‘23, so 10 years later. He was an older school teacher. He became a party leader; we actually have information about his party leader affiliation.

Here's the certificate. In 1933, looks like he became a party leader in 1933, it has his party leader number; and in ‘34 he went down to his local party leader store and bought the gun. So a pretty cool gun. Instead of being like the mayor of the town or a bigwig in the party, he probably was a small-town assemblyman or something like that, very low level. My friend in Germany did some research and said he was a very low-level party leader but he qualified to go out and get a gun and he thought he would be really cool to go out and buy this party leader. But it looks like he stuck it in a drawer and never used it. And kudos to him because he probably never shot anybody, but I thought it would be worth sharing with you before I put it in the safe and that's a quickie.
