4/10/19 - This is a scarce, early pre-war Mauser Oberndorf Type B sporting rifle, made in 1912-1913, and chambered in very desirable 8 mm Mauser caliber (this is an older 8,0 N chambering for .318 diameter bore). The gun remains in its original, unmodified condition with about 90% rust bluing still there. The majority of finish loss or patina is found on the top of receiver, trigger guard and magazine floorplate. The gun is a very desirable Type B sporter, and has NOT been tapped and drilled for optics. It is all matching with sharp cartouches and matching serial numbers on the barrel shank, receiver and bolt. The early full Mauser Oberndorf inscription is on top of the chamber. The stock is in great condition, showing light wear, with no cracks or pieces missing, with an original Mauser buttplate with a tiny chip on the bottom. Considered by many the best hunting rifle ever made, Type B Mausers became the favorite of the African safari hunters over the years and have attained nothing short of legendary status.
