4/5/22 - This is an original Rock Island Arsenal model 1903 rifle from WW1. The rifle is all original and in the original configuration, but has been arsenal refinished post-WW1. This was commonplace for left-over rifles at the end of WW1. However, not many are still in the original configuration like this example. The barrel is RIA stamped and 1918 dated. The bore is excellent and shiny throughout with strong rifling and minimal use wear - 9/10 overall. The wood stock is correct but shows aging throughout and has some minor chips in various areas. The left side neck of the stock has a faint "S.A. D.A.L." stamp. The underside is P proof stamped. Mechanically sound. Comes with an uncut WW1 era bayonet that's correct for the rifle, but the blade looks refinished and in poor condition - see photos.
