6/28/22 - This is a rare early Walther P.38, marked and known as the Mod HP or M/39, that was part of the second Swedish contract order for these pistols. There were only about 500 of this variant produced, all in April of 1940. This one is all matching and has the proper "Crown N" commercial proofs. It has retained about 85% of its original high polish finish. Most of the finish loss comes in the form of spotty wear on the front strap. There is also minor, somewhat scratchy wear concentrated around the high edges of the slide and around the muzzle. We believe the top plate has been refinished. Comes with excellent proper grips and a period-correct magazine with matching post-factory numbering on the left side of the tube. The bore is shiny with very strong rifling and just hints of frosting in the grooves. De-cocker is functional.
