3/23/17 - This is an original Mauser S/42 Luger from 1936. The pistol is restored, so the finish is not original. However, there is no rust or pitting, and the finish is excellent with fire bluing on the toggle pin, and restored straw parts. The finish is complete with no wear. The pistol comes with two magazines which are serial numbered and letter suffix matching to the gun. We're skeptical on the authenticity of the magazines though. One of the magazines looks like it could have possibly been tampered with due to a small area that looks polished around the serial number. The proof stamp, plus sign, and letter suffix all look original and authentic though. The magazine without a plus sign looks to be a forgery due to the number font, and shiny metallic finish to the base. Please see photos and make your own conclusion as to the authenticity of that magazine. The grips are original and excellent with no cracks or chips. The bore has some surface corrosion, meaning there are light signs of discoloration and surface pitting/rust. This is a light layer of wear on the lands and grooves. The grooves are strong though, and the gun would probably still fire accurately after a thorough bore cleaning. This pistol is a historic collectible priced to sell!
