3/25/22 - This is an Arisaka Type 99 rifle issued to Japanese military during WW2. The gun is all matching and has a partially defaced Imperial mum stamp on the receiver that is still mostly visible. It has proper late-war features such as the wood butt plate, no hole for the cleaning rod, and a peep-style rear sight. There is not much actual finish loss on the metal parts except for minor wear on the high edges in general and some light spotty wear on the receiver. There are some heavy scratches and an area with small holes on the right side of the butt stock. Our consignor claims that this indicates the gun was issued in Okinawa. There are other dings, bruises, and gouges throughout. Both the foregrip and hand guard are captured but are a little loose. The bore is mint.
