11/23/21 - This is an original, late WW2 production Springfield 1903-A4 sniper rifle. The rifle comes with a Lyman Alaskan scope. These were commercial scopes, but the US military was in short supply, so these Alaskan scopes are acceptable and found with correct WW2 US sniper rifles. The scope has Redfield mounts and is in great shape with some mild surface patina and clear, crisp optics. The rifle has a Remington barrel dated 1943. We believe based on the configuration and serial number on the receiver that this sniper was assembled in 1944 and was likely not used during WW2 or saw limited action at the end of the war. This is due to the lack of inspector stamp on the stock. This is a bit of a head-scratcher for us but one theory is this stock was lightly sanded for competition use. There are tags or stickers on the trigger guard that indicate entry to competition shooting. There is a "K" stamped in the magazine cutoff well, and a P stamp on the underside of the stock. The 'K' stands for Keystone, who supplied stocks to Remington. It's a full pistol grip or "C" stock, and could be a replacement as it's not inspector marked. The metal is both parkerized and blued, with the original finish still mostly in tact. Mechanically sound with a mint condition bore. Comes with a canvas carry sling.
