10/21/21 - This is a very nice example of a Springfield Model 1903 Bolt Action Rifle that was originally manufactured in 1917. This particular gun was part of the British Lend-Lease Program between the US and England. That is evidenced by the British export proof on the left side of the receiver. The barrel is HS-marked and dated 1944. In addition, many of the small parts are marked "R" and do not match the condition of the rest of the gun. That leads us to believe the gun was reworked at some point. Some parts are blued and some are parkerized. There is scratchy wear around the muzzle and splotchy discoloration on the front barrel band. There is also spotty wear, thinning, and minor pitting on the receiver and floor plate. The stock is "P" proofed, has a "FJA" inspection stamp, and has a cross-canon military cartouche. There is also a "75" written in marker on the left side of the butt stock. The stock is in excellent condition with very minor dings and handling marks here and there. The bore is mint.
