8/2/21 - This is an excellent example of an "a" prefix Spreewerk P.38 issued to the Nazi military just before the end of the war in 1945. It is all matching except for the locking block and has the proper "Eagle 88" military proofs. The frame has an asterisk proof, indicating it failed initial inspection and was sent back to the factory for repair. The barrel has a Mauser proof but is numbered to match. It has retained about 96% of its finish. There is minor wear and tiny dots of freckling along the high edges of the slide and minor thinning and brown patina on the front strap. Comes with excellent grips and a matching-numbered magazine. We assume this magazine was numbered to match after the war, likely used by a police arsenal. The bore has relatively worn rifling with minor pitting throughout. De-cocker is functional.
